Traditional Chinese Veterinary Medicine (TCVM)

Dr. Metzger-Smit has been extensively trained and has a great deal of experience in TCVM. The areas of her expertise are:

  • Acupuncture
  • Aquapuncture
  • Homeotoxicology
  • Herbal medications
  • Tui Na (gentle manipulation)
  • Food therapy

She can help provide complimentary therapy for a number of health concerns. TCVM therapy opens up our treatment options very wide. In the world of conventional medicine treatments are very black and white….. to medicate or not to medicate, to do surgery or not to do surgery and so on. In TCVM the whole body, personality and behavior is considered in diagnosis and treatment. This fills in the wide variety of “shades of grey” that fill the gaps between black and white. Common ailments that she treats are:

  • Disc disease
  • Allergies
  • Behavior
  • Cancer
  • Arthritis
  • Kidney disease
  • Liver disease
  • Seizures
  • And more..

If you would like to schedule a consultation these are planned Monday-Wednesday. If your pet is not currently a patient we ask that you have your veterinarian fax us your pet’s history and any laboratory results to us at least 24 hours before your appointment so that she can have the opportunity to review the records prior to your appointment. Expect a new consultation visit to typically take at least 1 hour. Appointments cannot be scheduled between 11am-2pm or after 5pm.
